Rocket Fuel From The Moon
It's inherently cheaper to go from the Moon to LEO than from the Earth.
The full paper is here. The results are interesting.
Results
The experiments demonstrated successful water extraction from lunar soil via photothermal heating, with the extracted water enabling CO₂ conversion into O₂, H₂, and CO. Key findings include:
Tangible integration of processes in a single step, improving energy efficiency.
Production of usable products: H₂ and CO for fuel, and O₂ for respiration.
Enhanced feasibility for on-site resource generation, though quantitative yields (e.g., water ppm or conversion rates) were not detailed in available sources.
The results highlight lunar soil's unexpected "magic" [emphasis mine] in supporting these reactions, as noted by the researchers.

Have read about water/ice on Mars but must have missed water on our moon. A quick check shows apparently it's common in some form on many worlds in our solar system.
Maybe it's available on other worlds in other solar systems as well, if we ever get to them.
